Happy Anniversary ... and It's Mojo Monday!

Once again, it's time for Mojo Monday!  This week it's circle or square.  I'm still new at this, so a square it is for me.  This is the sketch

and my attempt (I decided after looking at the original card that it needed another butterfly to balance out the anniversary tag).

My friend is going to visit her son and daughter-in-law for a few days, and their anniversary is also coming up.  Sister sent me a picture of a card to attempt to recreate.  My "recreation" is the text and the flag; the "happy" is a free font from Kevin and Amanda and the "anniversary" is Century Gothic.

I used a white 5.25x5.25 white card base that I edged with Peacock Feathers Distressed Ink.  The paper is two-sided MME called Blue Waves.  I used a skinny ribbon to divide the two papers.  Finally, I edged the butterfly with the Peacock Feathers and then spritzed it with Tattered Angels Pearl Mist.

Last, but not least, happy 34th anniversary to my DH ... it's been a wonderful 34 years!  Love you!

My very first ever cards for sale!

A while ago, someone asked me if I sold my cards.  I told her that I did.  She wants to buy some ... and I made some!  I hope she likes them.  If not, they are up for sale!  (Sister has been bugging me to get this done ... all in time, because I want this to be a relaxing hobby, not one that stresses me out.)

I've discovered that not including a sentiment doesn't limit the uses of the card; it can be for birthday, thank you, just because, congratulations or anything else.  Thanks, sister!

This card is a scraplift from a blog; I don't remember where I saw it, so give me a shout-out if you know.  I used four different Cuttlebug embossing folders, some trim that I purchased from Melissa Frances at the Orlando Expo, and a gelly-embelly (my new cute term!) from Joann Fabric.

This card is just way too cute.  Again, an embossing folder, this one from Darice that's just a border embosser.  The sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black using a stamp from ... yikes! I cut off the name of the set!  I cut the cupcake on my E2 from the Cricut Alphabet folder using some purple glitter paper for the "frosting" and a Cuttlebug folder for the cupcake liner.  What makes it so cute, though, is that the cupcake is mounted on an action wobble!  Such fun!

Next up is my beautiful pink organza flower on a white base using another Cuttlebug folder.  Lovin' this technique.  Makes the card so elegant yet fun.

For this pink daisy flower, I first used my homemade glittery spray to decorate the paper as well as the leaf, which I cut on my E2.  I added a flower from Michael's and some fluffy pink feather.  Can't get away from my Cuttlebug embossing folders!

Last but not least is another birthday card.  I cut the flourish from a paint swatch, roughened the edges of the paper (sister needs to teach me how to do this better!), added a white Michael's flower and some more feathers.  The sentiment was typed in Word using Pea Noodle Parlor from Kevin and Amanda.

Two tags

I spent a lot of time last night on Tammy Tutterow's site learning how to ink a tag.  Today, I don't know what came over me ... I HAD to make one!  Well, one wasn't enough ... a second tag followed the first.

The details:  tag is 4.25 x 9.5 (roughly).  I used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge for the cut.  The cut was followed by a bunch of layers of Tim Holtz's Distress Ink (Frayed Burlap, Vintage Photo, Fired Brick, Broken China, Black Soot, Forest Moss).  I flicked water on it to make it even more distressed.  I also stamped a script stamp in the Forest Moss. Then I used a Copper Glitter embossing powder on the edges.  I also used my homemade sparkle mist in a golden metallic.

The pennant was a gift from my sister.  I dabbed it with the black soot.  The flower is a layer beginning with greenery topped with a plastic flower that I smudged with Black Soot.  I was afraid that it wouldn't dry, so I used the heat tool. Surprise!  It began to curl and shrink.  Cool beans!  Then I layered some paper flowers that were also misted with the gold metallic spray.  The corner boasts a small metallic embellishment with the word "Inspire".  I added a flourish to the top and tied it with a bow through an old button from some long-forgotten article of clothing.  Finally, some gorgeous, silky yarn is tied through the hole.

Tag two has most of the same features as the first tag.  It's a bit larger at 4.5 x 10.5 (again ... approximate dimensions - I am too lazy to go measure it!).  I also used my new purchase of Dusty Concord ... a beautiful purple!  I used it to stamp the script as well.

The differences in this tag include a metal mesh that my neighbor gave to me.  I sprayed a white flower with some more homemade purple metallic mist.  There's a flourish on the top that I embossed with purple embossing powder.  I used some white paint to distress the tag in the lower corner that reads "Appreciate".

I'm glad I spent the time learning how to do this.  My fingertips are stained a glorious shade which is really cool.  Enjoy!
