Happy Birthday

I am really loving the Mojo Monday Sketch #458.  I even posted a card yesterday!

I didn't follow the sketch exactly as it is shown, but that's okay!  Now this is in my stash, ready to send to my friend for her May 2 birthday.

Gone to the Beach

It's Monday, and that means it's time for a new Mojo Monday sketch!  I played around with the sketch and some of my designer papers that are in my stash.  We live about 5 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and every summer my teacher friends and I meet for a gab session.  I think I will send this card to one of them for her upcoming birthday.  I'm entering this into Mojo Monday 485.

Mojo Monday!

Once again, it's time to post a Mojo Monday card.  This one was finished just a few hours after I saw the sketch, but I kept forgetting to post it.  Today is my day to play in my craft space ... next Monday is my first day back to school, so I want to enjoy the day. Take a look at this very versatile sketch:

I purchased the paper pack last summer when I was at GASC, and I've used it quite a bit.  I read a tutorial on a blog about printing your own designs, so that's what I did on the tilted panel.  Back in the day, I used to do digital scrapbooking, and I have a TON of kits.  The flowers were in one of the kits, and with just a few resizings and some flipping, I was able to print the panel.  In fact, they are some Fabulous Florals, just right for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge!

I don't have a lot of stamps, so again I used one of the digital stamps to print out the sentiment.  Isn't the polka-dotted ribbon adorable? I thought it added just the right touch.

I am quite enamored with this card, and I will definitely recreate it in different colors and different orientations.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Happy birthday - Mojo Monday #453

This card went together in a snap!  I have a bunch of people with upcoming birthdays, so a variation of this card is sure to find its way in the mail to many of them.

I used my Cricut to cut the Mickey heads, and it's not possible to see it in the photo, but each head (balloon) has some clear Wink of Stella added to it.

Love this sketch from Mojo Monday for challenge #453.

Mojo Monday 446

It's time to create a new card!  Our family is a real Disney fanatic family, and this card will be great to have in my stash for a quick card.

I'm entering this into this week's Mojo Monday competition #446.

Happy Birthday to Oliver!

Yesterday was my grandson's first birthday. I really liked the sketch for Mojo Monday this week, so I created a Design Space file for the card. It was so easy!

I hope the little guy enjoys this (or at least his cake!).

The Journey is a State of Mind

Now that school is back in session, I find myself just spending some time looking at blogs.  The hours that I spent this summer playing in my craft space are a faint memory.  Today is my day to play (okay, and to do some housework before the house is condemned!).  I used my Cricut Explore Air to set up the cuts for this card ... super easy!  My inspiration is from Mojo Monday's #414 Contest.

I think that I will send it to my friend for his birthday since he loves to travel.  Speaking of birthdays, wouldn't it be so cool if I win this contest?  Why? you ask.  Well, Monday is MY birthday.

Merci Beaucoup

The Mojo Monday sketch for this week is perfect!  So perfect, in fact, that I just had to create a card ... and you never know when you'll need a thank you card, so that made it even perfecter (yes, I know that's not a real word).  Here's the sketch for this week's challenge #398:

And here is my interpretation:

I used the merci beaucoup stamp from Verve that I won a while back.  It fit perfectly in the space that was available.  I had a difficult time trying to come up with something to put on the three banners on the top, but when I rummaged through my punches looking for a circle punch, my eyes lit on the flower instead.  Perfect!

Don't forget:  Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right!

Mojo Monday 385 - Celebrate You

We are celebrating a birthday at our house tonight ... and, as usual, I needed to make a card.  I'm so glad that the Mojo Monday challenge #385 was posted today.  I love the sketch, and here's my take on it:

Happy Valentine's Day

I haven't participated in a Mojo Monday challenge for quite some time.  This afternoon, though, I looked at this week's sketch (Challenge #381), and I decided that I had to participate.  Here's the sketch:

Thanks for all you do

I love the way this card is so clean and simple.  Just a bit of modeling paste mixed with some glitter and a simple circle cut from my Cheery Lynn Designs Circle Classic Silver Stackers.
My card features a stamp set from Verve titled Thankful Hearts; sadly, though, it appears that there is a long wait for the stamps, but they are well worth the wait! I'm entering it into Mojo Monday's Challenge #356.

Last week I was talking with sister about some flowers that she made.  One of them was cut from a cereal box inner wrapper.  I had the brilliant idea to use a bag from a Melissa Frances purchase for my flower.  Love it!!!!!

Enjoy the day!

Baby Card

My teaching team is having a baby shower for our team leader tomorrow.  I made this card and then went all out for the envelope as well (the name is blurred to protect identities).  I used graphics that I purchased from Scrappin' Doodles.  These same graphics are on the table decorations for the shower.

I am entering this in Mojo Monday's Tall & Skinny challenge.  I spent quite a bit of time perfecting the sizes for the various cuts so that it would come out okay.  So glad that I did!  The font on the card and the envelope is Pass the Chex Mix from Kevin and Amanda.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is so near ... we are actually celebrating next weekend with family visiting from out of town.

Here's a quick and easy card that defines the day perfectly, created for a special person.  It's also my entry for three challenges:
I also used a free graphic for the dictionary page from The Old Design Shop.  That's a place I will definitely visit again!  Thanks, sister, for the link!

OOOHHHH ... I have to update my photo.  The first one did not do the card any justice ... that's what I get for trying to photograph in dim light.  Here's the better version that really shows the true colors; I'll leave the original on the blog for comparison purposes.

Mojo Monday - #301

It's time again for Mojo Monday!  I needed some mojo to help me with a birthday card that I am making for a friend to send to her sister.  This week's sketch helped me tremendously.  Here's the sketch:

Happy Anniversary ... and It's Mojo Monday!

Once again, it's time for Mojo Monday!  This week it's circle or square.  I'm still new at this, so a square it is for me.  This is the sketch

and my attempt (I decided after looking at the original card that it needed another butterfly to balance out the anniversary tag).

My friend is going to visit her son and daughter-in-law for a few days, and their anniversary is also coming up.  Sister sent me a picture of a card to attempt to recreate.  My "recreation" is the text and the flag; the "happy" is a free font from Kevin and Amanda and the "anniversary" is Century Gothic.

I used a white 5.25x5.25 white card base that I edged with Peacock Feathers Distressed Ink.  The paper is two-sided MME called Blue Waves.  I used a skinny ribbon to divide the two papers.  Finally, I edged the butterfly with the Peacock Feathers and then spritzed it with Tattered Angels Pearl Mist.

Last, but not least, happy 34th anniversary to my DH ... it's been a wonderful 34 years!  Love you!

Happy Mother's Day

Trying again to be ready with a stash instead of last-minuting it.  In addition, just like Monday's post and card, I am submitting this for Mojo Monday.

It's Mojo Monday!

I've been lurking at Mojo Monday for a while, trying to get up the courage to enter.  Actually, I did enter one a few weeks ago.

This week's design is awesome!

This card came together rather quickly.  I used my Cricut Expression 2 - Elegant Edges cartridge - to cut the scallop on the left side.  The text was done on the computer in Photoshop.  The paper is from a delicious Recollections pack called Floral Foliage that I got last week at Michael's.  The narrow strip above the scallop is glittery as is the butterfly, which I cut out of some of the paper.  I used Tim Holtz's Distressed Ink (Broken China and Forest Moss) to smudge the edges of everything.  Finally, I added some bling to look like the butterfly's trail.

Now I have one card in my stash for when it's time to send an anniversary card!

Thank you

I needed a card for a man, so it couldn't have any frou-frou. Mojo Monday has a really interesting sketch this week, and I decided to run with it.  This is my first time EVER to post my card on an online gallery like this.
